Details

We are pleased to invite you to a slightly modified autumn BPNS meeting to reflect current social distancing requirements. We are able to host the meeting in the large lecture theatre in 33 Queen Square. Because of recent changes to the COVID rules, only 6 people from Queen Square will attend in person and the remainder of the meeting will be conducted online. Lectures and clinical cases will either be presented in person or remotely and streamed live on the Zoom platform.  There will be no pharma presence, no refreshments, or lunch provided and no post-conference dinner on this occasion. Prices have been reduced to reflect these changes: £10 for associate & retired members, £20 for ordinary members, £30 for non-members. Once you register you will recieve a Zoom link to access the meeting. On line attendees will be able to ask questions and make comments via Zoom with an in house chairperson managing the virtual and real audience to promote an interactive feel to the meeting. It may be possible to increase the numbers of attendees in person but we will not be able to confirm until closer to the time. Attendence will be permitted in the following order: NHNN staff and trainees, presenters, BPNS council members (as the AGM will follow the meeting) and then others in order of registration.

We are keen to support cases from our broad membership. Please submit abstracts via the website in the usual way, deadline: October 23rd at 5pm. We look forward to an interesting informative and interactive meeting delivered in a novel way.

From Aisling Carr, Mike Lunn and Stephen Keddie

New UK Charity for Peripheral Neuropathy

The BPNS wish to facilitate setup of a new charity for peripheral neuropathy in the UK.  There is no charity or association in the UK which supports people with all the many causes of peripheral neuropathy.  Only a few specific causes of neuropathy have a UK charity, such as CMT-UK, GAIN and Diabetes UK.  There is no UK charity to support idiopathic neuropathy, painful small fibre neuropathy (except general pain charities), brachial neuritis, carpal tunnel and entrapment neuropathies, chemotherapy neuropathy (except cancer charities), etc. Several people have come forward to assist with this and work is progressing to get the new charity up and running.
