Joint meeting with French Peripheral Nerve Society (SFNP) https://societedunerfperipherique.org/

The venue will be an elegant scientific conference venue in central Paris near the Invalides metro station https://maisondelachimie.com/

Friday 7 February, 09:00 - 20:00. The Friday will be a special joint meeting between British and French Peripheral Nerve Societies. This meeting will be in English language and will comprise:

  • Guest lectures on CANVAS/sensory neuronopathy, immune mediated neuropathies associated with cancer, hereditary motor neuropathy, and pain and placebo effect. Both French and British speakers will be invited.
  • Sponsored symposia on treatment updates.
  • Competitive quiz between a UK trainees team versus a French trainees team.
  • Abstract submissions (either scientific studies or clinical cases) are encouraged: these will be selected for presentation of a few short oral presentations and the rest as poster presentations.
  • Cheese and wine/champagne tasting session.
  • Dinner reception on the Friday evening.

Saturday 8 February. Meeting in French language. British are welcome to attend but this day is not specifically a joint meeting, and will be similar to a normal SFNP meeting. Programme includes a debate on MRI versus ultrasound of nerves, review of the recent literature, and clinical cases.

Registration and abstract submission are now open only through the following website: https://www.journeessfnp.fr/?lang=en

Deadline for abstract submission is 17 November. There will be far fewer oral case presentations than a normal BPNS meeting, but we we will have lots of posters. So please submit abstracts for posters. Abstracts can be either a clincal case or a scientific study.

The abstracts of the meeting were published in JPNS

Registration details will be announced shortly.

New UK Charity for Peripheral Neuropathy

The BPNS wish to facilitate setup of a new charity for peripheral neuropathy in the UK.  There is no charity or association in the UK which supports people with all the many causes of peripheral neuropathy.  Only a few specific causes of neuropathy have a UK charity, such as CMT-UK, GAIN and Diabetes UK.  There is no UK charity to support idiopathic neuropathy, painful small fibre neuropathy (except general pain charities), brachial neuritis, carpal tunnel and entrapment neuropathies, chemotherapy neuropathy (except cancer charities), etc. Several people have come forward to assist with this and work is progressing to get the new charity up and running.
